Tello EDU Error Code 29

Both the drone and app are up to date.
When turned on, and attempting to pair, the light remains red (never gets to flashing yellow.
Yet, drone connect to app. I begin calibration. Yellow light starts flashing.
Calibration starts, then fails and app shuts down.
At one point I got error code 29.
Any suggestions?

Error code 29 on Tello typically points to a motor-related issue. A quick troubleshooting step you can try is performing a factory reset.

To do this, power on the Tello and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds. The drone should automatically power cycle, indicating the reset was successful.

Let me know if that helps or if you have any other questions—happy to help!

Hello Ryan,

Thank you for that information.
The factory reset steps were successful on one drone. YAY!

The other drone is not responding to the factory reset.
Ultimately, it settles back to the solid red light after cycling.
Is there a Plan B?

Thanks for your help!
Monique

Hi Monique,

Glad to hear the reset worked on that drone. Regarding the other one, a solid red light can indicate a hardware failure. I recommend trying the reset a few more times, and if you’re able to connect, attempt an IMU calibration as well. Be sure to use a fresh battery. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
I tried again repeatedly as you suggested, but the drone did not respond.
I took video and sent it to Ryze.
After reviewing it, they gave me info to send them the drone.
They will look at it and determine if it can be repaired.
I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks for all your help.
