Drone hanging in the air

I am using the droneblocks simulator to test code and it runs as it should do.

I have transferred the code onto the tello edu and once launched the drone just hangs in the air doing nothing.

Any ideas of the issue?

Hi Jaz. There are usually one or two main causes:

  1. Tello firmware requires update (do this through the Tello app)
  2. Insufficient light in the environment. Try free flying with the Tello app in the exact environment. If you see a “ambient light too weak” notice you will need to increase the lighting. This has to do with the drone’s visionary positioning system (the two sensors on the bottom). They are light sensitive.

Hopefully these will do the trick and you’ll be up and flying!
